We are quickly approaching the end of our first full year of living in Nevada. This time last year, we were packing and making multiple trips back and forth to California while waiting for the end of the school year and my onsite contract to wrap up.

One thing we've all said over the last two weeks, "I don't remember it being this hot at this time last year." I do remember being here for Memorial Day weekend and putting out some of my 4th of July decorations - which reminds me that I need to do that.

We've noticed lots of houses going up for sale in our neighborhood over the last few weeks which is either a sign that property values are rising and people want to make the most of it or just that school is out here already.

I'm seeing a slowdown in my travel for business, which is a good thing. We have a personal vacation planned for this summer but nothing like our vacation in France last year.

What are your plans for the summer? Any big trips planned or are you looking forward to a staycation?

Favorites

Some of my favorite things lately...
BaubleBar does these little pull tie bracelets so well. They are cute and affordable, and they always have great new ones coming out. I've been wearing my evil eye lately.

My favorite pair of jeans right now are these slim boyfriends from J Crew. They aren't too baggy, but they are still much more flattering than skinnies, high-waisted or baggier boyfriends.

The Bubbly shower gel from Lush was part of a Christmas gift. I've been using it sparingly because it's just so good, but I'm almost out, and I'll have to wait six more months for more. In the meantime, I think I'll be switching to Yuzu and Cocoa.
I bought my Gucci bag about three years ago, and I didn't get a lot of use out of it at first. Now it's my daily carry. It's the perfect size, has a great dark brown color, and it works well with casual daily outfits or as a work tote. I wouldn't sneeze at someone giving me this version either.
My aesthetician tried to convince me that I needed the Murad Hydro-Dynamic Quenching Essence in my life, but it's pricey, so I fought it for quite a while. I finally gave in, and I have to say, it's worth every penny. This stuff has made my skin texture change dramatically for the better. I use it sparingly just once a day, and I know I'll be using it for a long while.

First I started a blog, and I worked on it for a while. Then life got in the way, and I didn't blog as much. Then life really got in the way, and I didn't blog at all. Then I made some life changes, and I suddenly had time to blog again, but I didn't want to. There are several reasons why, but basically, it just wasn't clicking for me anymore. It wasn't fun; it was so much effort to take and edit photos, and, frankly, I didn't feel like writing.

But I finally had time, and I'm a blogger. I can't be a blogger if I'm not blogging. So I made the effort, and I blogged, and it was still a hassle and not fun or enjoyable, and I still didn't like it. I tried some different things that still didn't motivate me or make me want to do it anymore than before. So I didn't blog again.

And then suddenly last week, I was sitting at my desk one day, and I thought, "I really want to work on my blog." So now I'm back and I'm working on my blog again. Does this mean it's a for sure thing that I'm going to be committed and work at this? I think it's too early to tell, but it does mean that this week, I got a blog post up. That's more than a lot of weeks over the past two years, so that's something isn't it?

April was a rough month for me. I had three consecutive weeks of business travel followed by a week at Disneyland and visiting family back in California for Spring Break. I had a really hard time staying motivated to find a way to get a workout in and make good eating choices while away on my own, and then on vacation, all bets were off.

As soon as we were back home, A started rehearsals for her spring showcase, and our dinner and workout schedule had multiple conflicts.

This week I finally feel like I'm back on track - just in time for my business trip next week. It's a vicious cycle.
