Life is never boring around here. Like everyone else's, mine has been somewhat chaotic and overwhelming lately. I mentioned here that I had to take one final business trip this year. I returned from Texas the Friday before Thanksgiving. We had decided to stay home and have a quiet holiday because we had been down to L.A. for a college tour the week before I went to Texas, and we didn't want to be on the road again.
The holiday was nice and quiet, but then things got totally crazy. On Saturday I started feeling bad and realized I had a kidney stone. As I was dealing with that, a few days later D started complaining of pain in his mid-back.
As this was going on with our health, we had ordered a new Lexus at the end of the summer, and we were dealing with some confusion getting it shipped to our local dealer. This was just an annoyance on top of everything else going on, but Lexus of Henderson was amazing facilitating finishing the transaction and getting our car to us.
D's "back" pain became excruciating. I insisted we go to the ER and good thing. His back pain turned out to be a pulmonary embolism. He's home recovering now, and he's decided to start blogging (!), so you can read a more detailed tale of the event (and a more engaging one, too) here. He has to make some diet and exercise changes as well as being on blood thinners for awhile, but he's doing very much better.
All of this, coupled with some less than smooth transactions in our business lately has left us spent. This outfit sums up how I'm committed to ending the year: simple, which I'm contemplating using as my word to focus on in 2018. These Tory Burch wedges saw me through the final days of warm weather.
How are you doing? Was 2017 a crazy year for you too? Do you choose a word to focus on every year or do you make New Year's resolutions?
